Speaking on ‘theology of entrepreneur’, DABA Associate Pastor, L Lima Jamir presented a very all-inclusive note. He introduced as entrepreneur as ‘one who does business in order to make money to increase wealth.’ He said that “theology of entrepreneur” simply means doing business with a purpose from God’s perspective where one acknowledged that we are not sole owner but mere steward to look after His provision.”
“It is God’s enterprise (theological enterprise) where we have to manage and continue to increase His creations for the welfare of His living creations in line with the expansion of His kingdom here on earth,” said the pastor. He added, “Just the very words together, Christian Entrepreneur, suggest a much higher and nobler purpose than simply a Christian who is trying to make a living by operating business.”
He said that being a Christian Entrepreneur requires calling. “I firmly believe that God has planned those seeds in your heart and designed you with this purpose in mind that one will lose in the battle between the constant pulls to serve both mammon and God.”
Also saying that being a Christian Entrepreneur requires recognition, the pastor said that Christian Entrepreneur recognize that it all begins, ends and consist with God. “It is this recognition of His sovereignty that allows us to go left when He tells us despite all our experiences telling us we should be going right.”
In conclusion, he said, “As a Christian, I believe faith is a key ingredient in business success. In this current economy, the people of God must remember that if you honour God through your business, He will direct your path. Entrepreneurship is not an easy feat. “It requires gut, persistence and a whole lot of faith.”
‘Church is there
for entrepreneurs’
The youth director of the ministry, Toshi Longkumer in the welcome address said that the present generations have come to an understanding that we should not be dependent on government alone for employment. Speaking as a church leader, Toshi Longkumer said that the Church appreciate and encourage the young people who have ventured into the business world; “The church respect the honesty, hard work and the courage you all have shown and are continuing to uphold through your business ventures.”
Drawing in similarities between the church and business, he said that Church is all about growing, whether it is big or small and similarly business is also all about growing. We share the same common thought. Missionaries are willing to take risk for the gospel, alike entrepreneurs take the risk to explore and invest. The Church explores new ways to reach out to the people, in business fields too, people apply ideas and strategies to attract customers and make their business prosperous. “Therefore, it will be a tremendous blessing if the church and business community can come together to an understanding because our goals are the same,” he added.
