Sakra World Hospital (SWH), touted to be Bengaluru’s first healthcare facility with 100 percent Foreign Direct Investment, is making a bid to spread its reach to Nagaland. The Bengaluru-based 350-bedded multispecialty hospital has opened an ‘associate office’ in Nagaland. It has signed a memorandum of understanding with Dentique, a Chümoukedima-based clinic from where the hospital intends to start outreach OPD, video consultations and ‘second opinion clinics.’
It will be followed by doctor visits to the associate office at Dentique for OPD consultations. A team of two doctors from SWH— Dr Lorance Peter, Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Dr Arjun Srivastava, Director and Head of the Institute of Neurosciences will conduct the OPDs. Dr Peter and Dr Srivastava were also at the press conference.
Group Chief Operating Officer, Lovekesh Phasu, told a press conference in Chümoukedima, on July 20, that the OPDs will be SWH’s first steps towards bringing “good healthcare infrastructure, talent and clinical excellence to the people of Nagaland.”
He said that the Sakra World Hospital in Bangalore is a unique blending of Indian clinical talent with Japanese quality, processes and transparency. “This is the first and only hospital in India, where Japanese companies like Toyota and Seiko have invested in India in healthcare,” he said.
He said that the hospital believes in quality and affordable treatment alongwith transparency, while adding that transparency in the treatment process is very important to the patient and patient family.
According to him, SWH has already treated a few patients from Nagaland and the patients have reportedly requested the hospital management to bring their expertise to Nagaland.
Recalling a visit to Kohima, four years ago, Phasu said that there was a plan for a nursing college in the state. He said that it however not ahead owing to “certain constraints.” According to him, Nagaland has potential to develop world class nursing schools. As far as establishing a SWH hospital in Nagaland was concerned, he said that it is open to possibilities.
Dr Lorance Peter said that he was looking forward to collaborate and bring SWH’s expertise in healthcare to the people of Nagaland.
The Managing Director of Dentique, Dr Imnasenla Longkumer, said that the partnership with SWH would be greatly beneficial to the people of Nagaland, ensuring “people receive affordable quality treatment.” She informed that the hospital provides “packages” customised according to the patient’s requirements.
