KOHIMA: The Kohima Town Mini Bus Drivers & Mini Bus Owners Union held its joint picnic at Kisama, Nagaland Heritage village on January 28 last.
During the occasion, the Best Driver Award for the year 2005 was conferred to Bito Meitei, son of Doino Meitei while Ruokuovituo Sorunuo son of Thesilie Soruni of Zadimna village bagged the Best Conductor Award. This was stated in a release issued by Kezevituo Chadi, General Secretary, Kohima Town Mini Bus Drivers Union.
The selection for the best driver and conductor was done as per some rules and regulations and directions given to its drivers and conductors to follow as given below:
Rules for Best Driver Award:
No drivers and conductors shall play card inside the bus. No drivers shall consume liquor, drugs, etc. during the duty time. No drivers shall handover their key to any unauthorized person without the consent of the bus owners. No drivers shall smoke in driver seat also inside the bus. No drivers shall wear slipper or bind scarf on their head while driving and also he shall not wear any shawl. All drivers must use their driving license and Union identity card in their custody during the duty time. All drivers must check all the mechanical part very morning before coming to parking line. Always avoid speeding in towns also do not overtake other vehicles unless and until the signal given to you the ahead vehicle. Always observe and obey all the traffic rules and signal so as to avoid any accident. No drivers shall allow to stop his bus any point of “NO BUS STOP” for picking passenger. All the drivers will wear uniform thrice a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).
Rules for Best Conductor Award:
No conductor shall wear shawl or bind scarf on their head. No conductor shall practice driving bus during duty time of in parking lines. Always keep the bus clean and tidy. Every conductor should keep themselves (Neat and Clean). To check all place of any passenger belonging is left inside the bus. If found, he should hand over to the Union Office. Always show respect and politeness to it value customer and be honest to it bus owner. For school bus service always look after the school children so as to check their head and hands outside the window. Always help old men and women climbing or getting down from the bus. No conductor shall play card or smoke inside the bus and vehicle disinfected once every two month with DDT or any liquid approved for the purpose by the Director of Health Services, Government of Nagaland.
