Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): The National People’s Party (NPP) National President and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today said that the incumbent Congress party in Mizoram has failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people. He said that the betrayal of the Congress party would turn into an opportunity for NPP.   “We promise to live up to the expectations of the people of the State. We are very much optimistic that people of Mizoram will give us a mandate to be part of the government formation,” said Conrad K. Sangma. NPP is contesting in 9 constituencies in the 40 members State Assembly slated on November 28.   Meanwhile, the NPP Nagaland State Unit Team led by the State President and Chairman Nagaland Hotels Limited Ato Yepthomi and Advisor Industries & Commerce and NIDC Imnatiba Jamir, campaigned for the Party’s candidates in four assembly constituencies of Serchhip, Serlui, Kolasib, Tuirial and Vairengte out of the 9 seats the Party.   A press release from NPP stated that the State team comprised of Samuel Sumi, State Secretary (Organisation) and Limanuksung Longkumer, State Secretary (Political Affairs). The State General Secretary Sasank Ghatraj has been appointed as the Party’s National Observer in Mizoram and has since been stationed there.   The NPP, which was launched in Mizoram on September 29, said it is expecting to win 3-5 seats and hoped to provide it the crucial numbers in playing the kingmaker’s role in government formation post elections, given the general assessment of a hung assembly in the state.
