Bhandari, April 12 (MExN): The monthly meeting of the Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB), Bhandari, was held at the Conference Hall of the Summer House-cum-Guest House, Bhandari, on April 10.
Extra Additional Commissioner and Secretary SDPDB Bhandari, Kilangtemsu (NCS), reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting.
MLA and Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon, welcomed officers newly posted to the sub-division as members of the house.
During the meeting, Kikon emphasised the proactive role of the government in the construction of the Nagaland Foothill Road and reviewed its progress and expected timeline for completion.
He highlighted specific stretches and the projected amount required for the remaining construction work along the proposed 105-km stretch under Bhandari sub-division.
Kikon also called upon landowners, public leaders and tribal leaders to extend cooperation in ensuring the development of quality infrastructure that could eventually qualify for National Highway status and facilitate smooth execution of work.
The Department of Power, Electrical Division, Wokha, sensitised members on the phased installation of smart prepaid metering under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
SDO Electrical, Sanis, Er Vungthungo L Murry urged village chairmen and gaonburas from Baghty, Merapani and Bhandari areas, along with town councillors, to help create awareness among consumers about shifting from conventional metering to prepaid smart meters.
He highlighted the benefits of smart metering, including cost savings, affordable tariffs, hassle-free billing, better monitoring of energy consumption, convenient recharge options and reduction of power theft.
He informed that the first phase of implementation would cover government offices and quarters, followed by business establishments and commercial consumers in the second phase, and subsequently extend to other users.
Executive members of the Lotha Officers Association, Wokha unit, led by its president Er S Benrio Kithan, also attended the meeting and handed over wheelchairs to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Bhandari, as part of the association’s “Reach Out” initiative to assist elderly and needy citizens.
The team also held interactive sessions with officers posted in Bhandari to strengthen coordination and functioning.
Kikon further underscored the need for early posting of a Senior Medical Officer at CHC Bhandari to fill the vacancy created following the recent transfer of the incumbent.
