Bhandari, October 5 (MExN): The Sub Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) was officially inaugurated in Bhandari Town on October 5 under the theme ‘teamwork makes the dream work.’ The event was graced by the presence of Y Patton, Deputy Chief Minister of Home and Border Affairs, Nagaland, as the special guest, a DIPR report stated here.
Addressing the programme, Dy CM Y Patton emphasised the importance of growth and development within the constituency through shared responsibilities and a sense of common good for all.
Advisor for Agriculture and Chairman of DPDB Wokha, Mhathung Yanthan urged the community not to waste their potential in idleness, emphasizing the need for coexisting peacefully with the local wildlife, including elephants, by understanding their natural habits to avoid conflicts.
MLA of 40 A/C and Chairman, SDPDB Bhandari Achumbemo Kikon acknowledged and thanked Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy CM TR Zeliang, and Deputy CM Y Patton for their support in granting SDPDB status to Bhandari sub-Division. Wokha DC Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS stressed the significance of community participation, urging stakeholders to collaborate for the benefit of the community. MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe delivered a message encouraging transformative thinking and prioritizing the well-being of self, society, and the future.
The programme highlights included the felicitation of four NPSC achievers of 2023 from 40 A/C Bhandari, song presentations by Government Higher Secondary School, and Senchumbeni S Odyuo.
Rev N Longshi Lotha, Pastor of BTBC, and Rev Father Mathew Rhanben, Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church Bhandari offered prayers during the event. The inaugural programme was chaired by Rohit Singh IAS, ADC Bhandari.
DPDB Wokha and SDPDB handari hold joint meeting
The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Wokha was convened jointly with the newly inaugurated SDPDB Bhandari at the town hall, Bhandari on October 5.
A DIPR report stated that MLA and Chairman, SDPDB Bhandari Achumbemo Kikon extended gratitude to the heads of departments and offices from Wokha for their active participation in the first SDPDB meeting of the Bhandari sub-division.
During the meeting, a comprehensive review of aspirational villages was conducted. All departmental officers under the Wokha district presented micro-action plans related to these villages.
Advisor for Agriculture and DPDB Wokha Chairman Mhathung Yanthan advised the concerned departments to prioritize the development of the four villages for overall improvement. He emphasized the importance of officers visiting these villages to gain firsthand knowledge of areas in need of improvement and to create awareness about government policies and schemes.
The meeting also discussed matters concerning the Lakhuti Education Foundation and resolved to forward the registration of the Foundation under the Society Registration Act to the Government of Nagaland for prompt approval.
Regarding the financial drive for the upcoming 21st ANCSU biennial conference, which will be hosted by MTC Wokha from October 25 to 27, Mhathung Yanthan, proposed mobilising funds through contributive donations from well-wishers. He also mentioned that the four legislative members of the district would offer their support.
DC Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan IAS, reminded the gathering that all government servants should provide logistical support for the upcoming 50th District Jubilee Celebration, scheduled for December of this year.
Achumbemo Kikon, proposed the construction of an SDPDB meeting hall in Bhandari as a priority. He also emphasized the need for establishing at least one college within the Bhandari sub-division.
Additionally, a proposal for the construction of a primary school in Zujum village was put forward during the meeting.
Dr Caroline, SMO of CHC Bhandari, highlighted that 440 rapid tests for Dengue were conducted, with 169 testing positive. She also noted that fogging in and around the foothill areas, including Merapani, Bhandari, and Baghty, had been carried out multiple times, and an intensive awareness campaign was ongoing.
