‘Bharat Darshan’ of NCS Probationers 2015 batch concludes

Dimapur, September 19 (MExN): The twelve NCS Probationers of 2015 batch started their Bharat Darshan on September 6 led by their Course Coordinator, Dr. Hovithal Sothu and concluded it on September 15.  

The team visited the Himachal Institute of Public Administration, Shimla, where the probationers were given classes on good practices on September 8 and 9. The topics included opportunities and challenges in administration of Himachal Pradesh vis-à-vis Nagaland and best practices in organic farming in Himachal Pradesh by N. Joshi (IAS); Best practices in providing citizen centric services in Himachal Pradesh by Arvind Mehta, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Training), Himachal Pradesh; Best practices in power, revenue, finance and health sectors in Himachal Pradesh, informed a press release from Dr. Hovithal Sothu, Course Coordinator, NCS Programs, ATI, Nagaland.  

From September 11 to 15, the officer trainees attended a programme on personality development at the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM), New Delhi. The topics included - interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, self development and personality development, conflict management, leadership skills and stress management. The resource persons were Rajesh K Agrawal, Course Director, Praveen Prakesh Ambashta, KH Sivaramakrishnan, Agam Aggarwal, Sanjay Kumar Sharma, Smita Gupta and Brig Sekhar Visvaathan.  

The probationers were taken for field visits to South Delhi Municipal office, where they interacted on the working system of the municipalities in the metros with the engineers, medical officers and education specialists from South Delhi Municipal Authority. Saket District Court, Delhi was the next destination where the state of the art facilities in modern day judiciary along with video conferencing facilities used to reduce cost and security arrangements of accused to be taken to the court, special arrangements for the minors and one sided glass arrangements for the victims under threat were highlighted. The officers were briefed by the Additional Chief Magistrate of Saket District Court.  

The officers were also taken to visit the Parliament Houses, Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and Central Hall. A senior officer of the Speaker’s Secretariat addressed the trainee officers. A guided tour was organized by the ISTM, which included not only the halls, but also the museum, the dining hall, the memento outlet.  

The valedictory function was held on September 15 with Vadali Rambabu, Joint Director ISTM, New Delhi as the guest of honour. Words of gratitude were expressed to the ISTM by Dr. Hovithal Sothu, Course Coordinator (NCS), while participatory certificates were given away by the guest of honour along with Kevekha Kevin Zehol, NCS, Additional Director (Admn), ATI and Course Director, NCS.  

The press release said that the next leg of their learning tour is at Administrative Training Institute, Mysore and Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA), Thrissur on ‘Project Planning, Preparation and Monitoring’ and ‘Local Self Government’ respectively.
