Bishop of Kohima stresses on value-oriented education at SJU pre-Christmas

Chümoukedima, December 13 (MExN): Rev Dr James Thoppil, Pro-Chancellor and Bishop of Kohima has stressed on the need to impart ethical, moral and value-oriented education for the welfare of State and the society.

Addressing the 6th Advance Christmas celebration of the St Joseph University (SJU) on December 12 as the chief guest, he said that Nagaland has immense human-resources and urged the teaching community to influence the society with their value-oriented teaching. 

He also underscored the need to read, practice and reflect on the line with teachings of the Bible.

Rev Dr Thoppil also lauded the SJU for completing 6 years of journey.

Meanwhile, SJU Nagaland Vice-Chancellor, Dr D Gnandurai also acknowledged the cooperation and support extended by the Bishop, while recalling the journey the university so far.

He further expressed appreciation to the efforts of all the staff of the varsity and further appealed all the faculties to maintain humbleness so that the university grows more as a team.

Carol singing, special number presentation by faculties and dance performance by DMI formation followed by cake cutting session, gift exchange and Christmas dinner were main highlights of celebration, informed a press release from the SJU. In all, 200 people attended the pre-Christmas celebration.
