DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 15 (MExN): In a joint statement, Tapir Gao, National BJP General Secretary and Ex-MP Arunachal Pradesh and Dr. M. Chuba Ao, President, BJP Nagaland, scathingly countered the false electoral assurances of the young Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
According to the press note issued by Jaangsillung Gonmei, Convenor, Media Cell and Publicity Committee, BJP Nagaland, the two leaders said that the visit of high profile Congress leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Rahul to Nagaland will cost the State Congress heavily.
“The electoral promises made by them are age old Congress tactics of false promises. They should realize that Naga people are not living in the stone-age not to realize their trickeries which the Nagas have seen in all the 5 decades of Congress rule. If what they promise for tomorrow is true, then what they have been doing so in the last 9 years of Congress-led UPA government?” the press note stated quoting the two BJP leaders.
In the Centre, the UPA was described as “sleepy, confused, indecisive government”. Further the Congress was accused of major scams in their 9 years of rule. “Everywhere, the people are exasperated by their mismanagement of public affairs”.
On the promise made by Rahul Gandhi to solve the Naga political issue, the BJP termed this as “tall poll promises”. “It is surprising to note that when they have not been able to do anything on the matter while in power, how can they be expected to achieve the same in the future?”
Terming the Naga political problem as more than 6 decades old, the BJP leaders claimed that many a times, the Naga people had voted the Congress to power but they were not able to solve anything.
“Now, how do they dare to promise of solving it? Evidently, they are a master of false promises. As usual, the Congress in interested in local problems only during election campaigns and neither before or after it. The Naga people therefore do not trust the Congress no more”.
Similarly, on ENPO region, the BJP alleged that Congress leaders never visited the area and publicly addressed the ENPO problems until the time for election campaign. The BJP leaders doubted whether Rahul Gandhi even knew the full form of the abbreviated ENPO, not to speak of the problems faced by the people of ENPO.
The BJP on its part explained that it had brought its leaders including Nitin Gadkari, then National BJP President to tour the ENPO region and interact with the local leaders to understand its political and socio-economic problems. He agreed to look into the matter seeing the stark reality of underdevelopment there, the BJP leaders said.
The press note as such stated that the “Naga people know these poll gimmicks of the Congress that have been displayed during every elections over all the five decades and will not be fooled by them” adding that the “people are gearing to give mandate to the DAN once again for peace, progress and prosperity”.
