Dimapur, August 31 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Nagaland is not convinced that the list of the Transport Subsidy beneficiaries is at all genuine and has reiterated common sentiments that there is corruption in the Industries department. The party has expressed strong doubts at the list of the beneficiaries and their identities due to reasons that the statistics between the number of beneficiaries and the actual existence of the beneficiaries’ firms in the state do not tally.
A press release from the BJP today remarked that the list give impressions of Nagaland being a highly-industrialized State.
“The BJP Nagaland expresses serious doubts about the repeated releases of Transport Subsidy beneficiary lists in the local press in recent days. While payments has not been disbursed to the beneficiaries for quite some time now, the BJP Nagaland however questions the genuineness of the lengthy list of the beneficiaries and their identities because of the wide statistical differences between the number of beneficiaries as listed and the actual existence of the beneficiaries’ firms in the state,” the party said.
The list is giving Nagaland an image of a highly industrialized state, which is contrary to the reality, the party said. “Interestingly, maximum of the names listed are from Dimapur district which has no impressive presence of industries as made out to be in the said beneficiary lists. This only implies the presence of fictitious names in the list.”
Ironically, some genuine entrepreneurs’ names have not been included, the BJP stated further. “This smacks of corruption in the industries departments in connection with transport subsidies.”
The BJP of Nagaland has demanded that the departments to “weed out fictitious names and include genuine beneficiaries.”
