BJP Kohima officials resign, join Neiphiu Rio

Kohima, November 13 (MExN): The office bearers of BJP Kohima district and its frontals – Mahila, Yuva, Kisan, Minority – and the three mandals (8th Western Angami, 10th Northern Angami-I, and 12-Tseminyu) with all the units have resigned en masse and joined hands with Member of Lok Sabha, Neiphiu Rio “as he is the only dynamic and visionary political leader.”

The BJP leaders today called on Neiphiu Rio “extending our unflinching support at his residence in Kohima,” stated a press release from resigned BJP Kohima district general secretary, Seyiekhrielie Nagi. “We appreciate his tall leadership in accepting us unconditionally.”

This development comes after the Nagaland State BJP’s alleged negligence in resolving the present crisis within BJP Kohima district over the expulsion of District President Dr. Khriezovolie Kesiyie and General Secretary Seyiekhrielie Nagi, according to the release.

It mentioned that on October 24, the aforementioned officials and mandals had requested the State BJP to resolve the matter in the interest of the BJP and reconsider the “unilateral and hasty decision taken by State BJP President Visasolie Lhoungu without following the BJP Party Constitution.”

However, it expressed regret that till date the State BJP leaders have not initiated any step to resolve the matter, but has only been allegedly involving in creating further misunderstanding and division among the BJP Kohima officials and the frontals.

“It is utterly regrettable that despite reaffirming our loyalty towards the uplift and success of the BJP in the State, the State BJP leaders had confused party workers by involving in vested interest politicking of some unscrupulous individuals and adamant to destroy the party from the grassroots level,” the release maintained.

Considering the fact that “there is no future” under the leadership of State BJP President, “we have lost all our hope upon his leadership and with the State General Election knocking our doorsteps, we the officials of the aforementioned BJP set-ups have decided to resign en masse from the primary and active membership of the BJP,” it added.

According to the list of signatories released to the media, 34 BJP officials resigned from the party.
