BJP Nagaland condemns alleged assault of NE women in Delhi

Dimapur, May 14 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland has condemned the alleged molestation and assault of two young women from the Northeast in Delhi.

In a statement issued by its Media Cell, the party described the reported incident involving women from Assam and Nagaland as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable,” and said it raises serious concerns regarding the safety and dignity of women as well as the treatment of people from the Northeast living in different parts of the country.

The party stated that the allegations of harassment, physical assault, inappropriate behaviour, intimidation, and delayed response despite repeated appeals for help were matters of “grave concern.”

“Such acts are against the values of humanity and have no place in a civilized society,” the statement said.

The BJP Nagaland urged the concerned authorities to conduct a fair and thorough investigation into the incident and ensure strict action against those responsible.

It also called for stronger measures to guarantee the safety and security of women and to prevent any form of discrimination or harassment against people from the Northeast residing across India.

The party further stated that it stands in solidarity with the victims and expressed hope that justice would be delivered swiftly.
