Kohima, November 19 (MExN): President of BJP 52 Longkhim-Chare Assembly Constituency, Hongcho Sangtam has been removed from his position for “anti-party activities,” according to a press release from BJP vice president, Yangthsase Sangtam. Khumpise Sangtam has been appointed to replace him with immediate effect.
This decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the BJP unit of 52 Longkhim-Chare A/C held at the official residence of Minister of Cooperation, Relief & Rehabilitation and MARCOFED, Imtilemba Sangtam, on November 18.
The release stated that the meeting thoroughly deliberated the “anti-party activities” of Hongcho, who was accused of “hobnobbing with others, deliberately trying to weaken the position of sitting BJP Minister, Imtilemba Sangtam.”
The release claimed that the BJP leader tried to prop up some other candidate to fight against party’s own sitting Minister, Imtilemba Sangtam, in the 52 Longkhim-Chare A/C. “His activities were not only highly condemnable and but also anti-party activities,” it added.
Minister Imtilemba Sangtam was also present at the meeting.
