Newmai News Network Aizawl | September 16 The BJP has expressed hope that it will come to power in Mizoram by defeating its main rival the Indian National Congress in the upcoming assembly elections. Mozoram goes to the assembly poll in few months' time. Mizoram is the last Congress bastion in the North East. Lal Thanhawla led state Congress has been in power in the state since 2008, and is hoping to make a hat-trick in the upcoming assembly polls. Addressing a meeting at the party office here, BJP leader Prabari Pawan Sharma who is in-charge of Mizoram said that he witnessed the rapid progress of BJP in Mizoram for which he was hopeful that the party would come to power, a statement issued by BJP on Sunday said. Sharma also said that the party would be able to win election without forging alliance with any political party if it continues to grow like this. The BJP has launched booth level campaigns to strengthen the party since August last. Sharma said that the party strength began from booth level meets and hence expands gradually to the entire state. Urging party workers to put in more efforts to strengthen the party, Sharma said that there is no reason of BJP losing the upcoming state assembly elections if party workers work hard at booth levels. Citing about the rapid progress of BJP, he said it was initially started with 10 members but now it has over 11 crore BJP members across the country. He said that the BJP would come to power in Mizoram as the party workers were working very hard. Meanwhile, state BJP president, Prof. JV Hluna said that the party national president Amit Shah would visit the poll bound Mizoram next month. "Shah, who is anxious to come to Mizoram, will open the party office and meet party leaders here", he said. According to Hluna, the BJP president is well prepared for the upcoming assembly polls in Mizoram. He expressed confidence that the BJP would come to power in the state. Meanwhile, a senior BJP leader has said that the party would fight the Mizoram Assembly elections on development issue.
