Block Level Poshan Panchayat held in Jalukie

Jalukie, September 21 (MExN): The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Jalukie Project under the Department of Social Welfare, Peren conducted Block Level Poshan Panchayat at Women Welfare Conference Hall, Jalukie on September 21. 

The month of September is observed as Poshan Maah, a flagship Government of India's programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

According to a DIPR report, at the programme, Extra Assistant Commissioner Jalukie, Wangan Phom in his address spoke on the role of Panchayat and various Poshan Schemes which was launched by the Central Government. He encouraged the local leaders to disseminate awareness on health and nutrition to the block level. 

Phom also emphasised on the importance of COVID-19 vaccine in order to attain and maintain good nutritional status to fight against the virus.

The Child Development Project Officer Jalukie, Namhuheing, meanwhile, dwelled on Jan Andolan-People's Movement and encouraged the council members and village leaders to participate and to raise an awareness on health and nutrition.

Kalivi Zhimomi, Supervisor Jalukie shared on management of Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) and Severe Acute Malnutrition (SM) among children and the importance of exclusive breast feeding and complimentary feedings. 

Early identification of SAM is important for initiating treatment and minimizing the risk of complications, she added. 

The programme was chaired by District Project Asst. Peren, Mezilung Nchang while vote of thanks was delivered by Hauneu Zeliang, President All Wards Chairman Jalukie Town.
