BN Mullik C’ship: Mizoram Police inch closer to quarters

Chumukedima, November 12 (MExN): Mizoram Police inched closer to bagging a quarterfinal berth from Group D in the 65th BN Mullik All India Police Football Championship 2016.   Mizoram Police won with a convincing 7-0 over a depleted Railway Protection Force at the Police Complex, Chumukedima on Saturday. Mizoram’s win meant that the fate of Nagaland Police hangs on the balance. Mizoram Police takes on Madhya Pradesh Police in their final game and need a win to qualify. A draw would deny Mizoram their chance and Nagaland would be the qualifier from the Group. From Group B, BSF won its last league match as it edged Manipur 2-1. With this win, BSF qualified for the quarter-finals having won all its matches in the league phase.   In the other results of the matches today, Chhatisgarh Police defeated Haryana Police 4-1 in Group E while Bihar Police overcame Telangana Police 2-0 in Group F.   Assam Police and Kerala Police played out a goalless draw in Group G while Rajasthan Police and Chandigarh Police in Group C ended goalless.   Uttarakhand Police and Lakshadweep Police played for pride in an inconsequential match with the former prevailing with a score of 3-1 in Group A.   With a hard-fought 3-2 win over Jharkhand Police today, Meghalaya Police are vying for a quarter final berth from Group H with three wins so far.   However, Delhi Police with 6 points in two matches may spoil their chances as they still have two games left to play. The decider will be the match in which the two teams locks horn in the last league match of the Group.   November 13 fixtures Morning (8:00 am) Puducherry vs Maharashtra Goa vs Delhi West Bengal vs Kerala Afternoon (2:00 pm) Uttar Pradesh vs Jharkhand SSB vs Chandigarh CRPF vs Chhattisgarh Himachal Pradesh vs Bihar
