The body of a man reported missing since April 19 was recovered on Tuesday in a forested area near Yangru Bridge, located within the government reserve forest under the Bhandari Division in Wokha District.
The deceased has been identified as Sumu Mali, reportedly in his early thirties and a resident of the Disputed Area Belt (DAB) along the Assam-Nagaland border. The body was found hanging from a tree at approximately 5 PM and was later identified by family members, including his wife.
Officials from the Merapani Police in Assam and the Bhandari Police in Nagaland were involved in the recovery and identification process. Preliminary reports suggest the death may have been a suicide. Following completion of the required legal and procedural formalities, the body was handed over to the family.
