Jiten Oinamba’s debut book of poems, ‘Canvas ta tarakpa pirangna’, was released today in a function organised by Loktak Khorjei Lup at Manipuri Hindi Parishad Hall, Old Assembly Road in Imphal. The book contains 46 poems.
The function was graced by the Director, Information and Public Relations (IPR), Government of Manipur, H. Balkrisna Singh, President Loktak Khorjei Lup, Oinam Tomba Singh, Sahitya Akademy Awardee, Birendrajit Naorem as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively. Book reviewer, Debdas Mairembam was also on the dais.
Balkrisna said though Manipur is a tiny state, it has well known writers and their contributions made Manipur known to the world of literature. Pointing that Department of IPR is related with press/ writing and publication and literature is also one of his priorities in life, he assured to try to reflect more budget allocation in the next Budget so the department can buy more copies of books and help writers particularly in releasing and marketing their books.
He also appreciated the young poet, Jiten Oinamba’s writing.
Born on October 5, 1989 at Karang Mamang Leikai, Jiten Oinamba is third among four siblings. He teaches students.
