KOHIMA, APRIL 28 (MExN): Kohima Science College, Jotsoma (KSCJ) hosted a poignant book talk on “Nimbu Saab – The Barefoot Naga Kargil Hero” on April 11, in honour of Late Captain Neikezhakuo Kengurüse, a revered alumnus and war hero. The event was jointly organized by the family of the late Captain and the Literary Committee of KSCJ.
The session, chaired by Dr Seyiekhrielie Whiso, opened with a welcome address by Aleno Doulo, who recalled Captain Kengurüse’s inspiring student life and leadership during his time at the college.
The emotional core of the programme came through the reflections of Neingutoulie Kengurüse, the younger brother of the late Captain.
Sharing personal memories, he offered intimate glimpses into their childhood, highlighting the quiet strength, discipline, and humanity behind the soldier’s bravery. His heartfelt narration brought into focus the man beyond the medals—a brother, a son, a friend, and a leader, a press release stated.
Adding a reflective dimension to the event, Neichinuo and Viketoulie Kenguruse offered a musical tribute, evoking a sense of loss, pride, and enduring legacy.
Late Captain Neikezhakuo Kengurüse, known as the “Barefoot Hero of Kargil”, made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil War in 1999 and was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India’s second-highest gallantry award.
