Booklet number 2; self confession of Cong misrule

NPF trashes NPCC’s “Rip Van Winkle” booklet

DIMAPUR: Likening the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee booklet ‘DAN’s reign of Failures’ to a comic character, Rip Van Winkle, the Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF) has pooh-poohed the NPCC by countering that the charges leveled against the DAN government was a result of “envious eyes” and Jaundice eyes.”

In a brief rebuttal to the booklet, issued by R. Paphino, Press Secretary NPF the ruling party stated that the NPCC talked about Rs. 365 Crore, bogus appointments, Horticulture scam, NBSC, textbook scam, NPSC, Gun license, fund embezzlement but the fact remained that “the Congress party had ruled Nagaland for pretty long time and these were all wrongs committed by them during those days when they were at the helm of power.”

The rebuttal asserted that by publishing the booklet, the NPCC might be thinking it was a remarkable job “but in reality, we consider this as an infamous No.2 booklet after the No.1 infamous booklet ‘Bedrock of Naga society’ which had bounced back on the Congress people with catastrophic result.”

It further stated that since the DAN Government had now started constructing the ‘house’ that was damaged by the Congress party, they have suddenly realized their wrongdoings and have come out with illusory and fallacious charges against the DAN Government. “In brief, it is simply a booklet of self-confession of the NPCC” it declared all the while terming it as a futile exercise to mislead the public.

“The NPCC booklet in its entirety reminds us of the story of Rip Van Winkle who slept for years together and woke up one fine day to see to his great amazement that the world around him had changed”, the NPF remarked. Further, the NPF stated that an earlier news report carried in a local daily (not The Morung Express) was a ‘miscarriage of news report’.

As such the party clarified that no such discussion had taken place in the cabinet meeting on August 3 as carried by the local daily.

The NPF rebuttal comes in the wake of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) formally releasing a booklet on what the Congress termed were ‘anomalies of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Government’. The 15 page book authored by the Opposition Congress contains 20 subtitles under the title “DAN’s Reign of Failures”
