For the inhabitants of Punglwa village, the going could not have been better what with an expected economic boom expected in the very near future. The village will enjoy not only the fruit of development that will bear through setting up of Sainik School, but also from the Old Boys Association (OBA).

The OBA has adopted the village, and from now they will do everything they can for the improvement of the village. If this was not enough, the icing in the cake came from none other than Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio who announced that Rs 38. 56 crore has been sanctioned for the repairing of Medziphema-Athibung road.

With the promise of having the infrastructure in place including roads, school and electricity, the Chief Minister brought along with him those who matter the most in putting the plans into reality. This included Tokheho, Minister for Work & Housing, Kheto, Minister for Forest, Imkong Imchen, Minister for Education, Tarie, MLA, Doshehe, Parliamentary Secretary, Power, besides hordes of top bureaucrats.

The Chief Minister also inspected the construction works of the Sainik School, and urged upon the NBCC construction company to complete it on time. He said that earlier the government had released about Rs 10 Crore, however since the amount is not sufficient, the government would appraise the Centre and DONER for the release of another installment. The School is expected to be completed by September next.

Rio nevertheless reiterated that without peace there could be no development. He was addressing the large gathering of the inaugural function of the Punglwa Village Council Hall. Asserting that development is the main agenda of the DAN government, Rio, said that without peace, development would remain only a dream.

“We have to keep praying for the continuing of ceasefire, for both the GOI and NSCNs groups”, Rio said. In economic terms, Nagas can sustain themselves, but we are depending on others too much, regretted the Chief Minister.

Rio also appreciated the role played by Lt. Horangse Sangtam in the peace process, stating that the deceased leader has set an example, while calling upon the people to follow his foot steps.

During the inaugural programme a one minute silence was observed as mark of respect to Lt. Horangse.
