‘Boosting entrepreneurship & IT exports from Nagaland’

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 17 (MExN): The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) centre, which was inaugurated in Kohima today, aims to cater the needs of the IT, ITeS, ESDM Industry and also to “boost entrepreneurship and IT exports from the State of Nagaland.”

As per the MoU signed between STPI and Department of Information Technology & Communication (DITC), Government of Nagaland, the DITC provided 18,137 sq. ft. of built up space at the new building of the Directorate of IT & C, Kohima (ground floor and immediate basement floor).

A press release from the centre informed that after the site was taken over, the STPI had initiated the renovation and interior works for setting up STPI Kohima facility in the allotted floors. However, considering that DITC, Government of Nagaland had all the resources and capabilities for taking up the renovation and interior works, STPI entrusted the renovation and interior work on turnkey basis to DITC, including its planning and designing.

The DITC has now completed the work and the STPI Kohima facility has been built on the allotted floors (total area 18137 sq. ft.) with infrastructures which include plug & play incubation seats (workstations), raw incubation space, conference hall, pantry, etc. The entire space is equipped with HVAC, uninterrupted power supply, captive DG power system, security system covered with CCTV & fire alarm system.

The centre informed that STPI has been working with distinct focus for promotion of IT/ITES exports from the country by providing single window regulatory services under STP & EHTP schemes, plug & play incubation facilities for the start-up companies and young entrepreneurs as well as High Speed Data Communication services for a seamless access for offshore IT/ITES exports.

It was added that the STPI has been delivering statutory services to the IT/ITES/ESDM industry and has “earned the goodwill for its liberal style of functioning.” “Working closely with all the stakeholders, STPI has played a key role in transforming the country as the most preferred IT destination,” the press release said.

It pointed out that there has been “stupendous growth” in exports by STP units from Rs. 52 crores in 1992-93 to more than Rs 4,66,926 Crores in 2019-20. STPI has also helped promote Tier-II/Tier-III cities of the country. Out of 60 STPI centers, 51 centers are in Tier-II and Tier-III locations with an objective of a uniform and overall development of IT/ITES exports across the country.

The STPI Centre Kohima is planning to host a Centre of Entrepreneurship in IT Applications in Graphic Design, where start-ups, students and innovators can utilize the facility for research and development of new innovative solutions.
