Botsa: One held for alleged attempted rape and murder

In a shocking and disturbing incident, an alleged incident of attempted rape and murder was reported in Botsa Village on July 16 evening. 

According to sources from Botsa village, the victim, a mother of four children was allegedly attacked by the perpetrator while returning from her field on the fateful evening.

The victim was reportedly waylaid by the perpetrator near a secluded area and attempted to sexually assault her at knife point. As she resisted the perpetrator and screamed, the victim was reportedly grievously injured on her neck and hands. Fortunately, on hearing her screams, some local residents nearby approached wherein the perpetrator managed to escape.

Upon reaching the village, she was taken to PHC Botsa for first aid treatment wherein she narrated the incident, and the Botsa Youth Organisation launched a manhunt and caught the attacker hiding in the jungle.

Subsequently, the accused was handed over to Chiephobozou Police Station and later forwarded to Women Cell, North Police Station.

Meanwhile, the Botsa Village Council along with all its frontal organisations Botsa Youth Organisation, Botsa Women Organisation and Botsa Village Students Union have condemned the incident. 

They urged the law enforcing agency to expedite the investigation process and award befitting punishment to the accused.

The Botsa Village Council stated that “under no circumstances the case should be circumvented and bail be granted to the accused.”
