Kohima, September 1 (MExN): Bovito Yeputhomi from Nagaland emerged as the champion of 100th edition “Checkmate COVID-19 Online International Open Chess Tournament” conducted by CEDS of Teliamura, Tripura on August 29 last.
The 100th edition was a Blitz type edition in which 89 chess players from different parts of the country participated. Yeputhomi secured 33 points and emerged as the champion.
Prathamesh Dibakar of Maharashtra, Raja Baskar of Arunachal Pradesh, Sekhawat Hossain of Tamil Nadu, Diganta Roy of Tripura and Brinda of Tamil Nadu stood 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place respectively.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland Chess Association (NCA) has congratulated Yeputhomi and wished him a bright future.
