Mokokchung, July 9 (MExN): Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) on Wednesday handed over teaching aids and IT equipment to Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to strengthen digital teaching and learning at the institution.
The equipment, comprising all-in-one personal computers, interactive smart boards and a public address lectern system, was inaugurated at the college premises by Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer.
Addressing the programme, Longkumer thanked BPCL for supporting the institution through its CSR initiative, saying the equipment would significantly strengthen the teaching-learning process for both faculty members and students.
He said corporate social responsibility is an important mechanism through which public sector undertakings contribute to the welfare and development of society across different sectors.
Encouraging students, the Speaker said that while literacy levels have improved considerably, academic excellence must be complemented by life skills to prepare young people for meaningful participation in nation-building.
He also urged the college authorities to ensure proper maintenance and optimum utilisation of the equipment so that it continues to benefit future generations of students.
Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung Ajet Kumar Verma, BPCL Manager (Sales) for Nagaland and Manipur Abishek Paul, and Fazl Ali College Principal Dr I Wati Imchen also addressed the gathering and acknowledged BPCL's contribution towards strengthening academic excellence at the institution.
The programme was chaired by Associate Professor of Political Science Dr E Benrithung Patton, who also delivered the welcome address, while the benediction and dedicatory prayer was offered by the Associate Pastor (Women) of Chuchuyimpang Baptist Church.
