The Morung Express presents glimpses of Brillante! 2nd Nagaland Piano Festival which got underway on October 29 at RCEMPA, Jotsoma. It will go on till October 31. A three day long Brillante! 2nd Nagaland Piano Festival underway got underway here today at RCEMPA, Jotsoma.
This three day festival witnesses convergence of local, national and international pianists playing classics, jazz and other contemporary forms of piano music.


The festival is a tribute to Piano music in Nagaland and a celebration on the heritage of Piano music to the Nagas.


Gracing the opening ceremony, Abu Metha, advisor to Chief Minister assured that the government will involve the real stakeholders to take music industry forward.


To the youngsters and participants, Metha said “We are with you. We want you to have ambition. We want you to aim high and we want each and every one of you to be wonderful ambassador of Nagaland and Naga people to outside world.”


He said that the government want Nagaland and Naga people to be known for good things, for wonderful things and music is definitely one of the best things that Nagas known for and “each one of you to be a proud ambassador of our state.”


During the inaugural function, 102 participated for 100 Pianos led by Khyochano TCK, Aman Mahajan, Natalie Kapylova and Vimezo Iralu. The pianists come together and played Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy’.


After semi final round today, judges have announced candidates for Brillante grand finale as: Group A (Junior): Chandni Kausika, Metshewe-u Lohe, Visevoü üsou, Vichiirielie Sechii and  Rokosituo Hozoyeh.


For Group B (Senior) includes; Shantanu Bupendra Patel, Ayide Koza, Anuvrat Choudhary, Moawapang Lusang and Neivino Rino.


The judges comprise Natalia Kapylova, Aman Mahajan and Sahu Peseyie.


Meanwhile, on October 30, the workshop will start from 11:00 AM onwards.


It will feature classical piano master class, into to Jazz piano and improvisation, acoustic piano maintenance, hymn arrangement basics, focused interactions, demonstration and piano playing techniques and practice habits.


In the evening session at 5:00 PM, a piano concert “Sapphire skies” will take place, featuring classical artist Natalia Kapynova and Jazz soloist Aman Mahajan.


Meanwhile, Piano Competition finals for both junior and senior categories will be held on October 31.


The grand finale will witness a repertoire of classical, jazz, gospel, Broadway and soul by renowned local artists Chathavi Vupru, Ayim Longchar, Ronnie Odyuo, Kekhrie Ringa and a special appearance by KM conservatory of Music Chennai (AR Rahman’s institute).


Organized by Brillante event team in collaboration with TaFMA, NPTA, imagi.nation, Music Academy Kohima, Furtados and media partner Nagaland Post, the festival will go on till October 31.
