Bring solution before election

15 Tribal Hohos of Nagaland appeals GoI

Dimapur, January 10 (MExN): The 15 Tribal Hohos of Nagaland on Tuesday appealed to the Government of India (GoI) not to hoodwink the Nagas with “another sugar coated slogan or phrases” and to seriously and sincerely bring about an honourable and acceptable solution to the protracted Indo-Naga issue before the general election.

In a press release issued through its Media Bureau, the Hohos recalled that it had met all the interlocutors and even apprised the Prime Minister of India with its representation on July 24, 2021 for an early acceptable solution which is and was the utmost desire of all the Naga people.  It also pointed out that six tribes of the Eastern Naga People’s Organisation (ENPO) and eight tribes of Nagaland had “unanimously resolved together to support the ongoing peace talks between the GoI and different Naga political groups for an early Naga solution,” during a meeting on August 31, 2019.

The Hohos went on to state that that the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) government had ‘swayed’ the Nagas with the “sugar coated phrase ‘election for solution,’” during the early part of the 2018 general election in Nagaland when the Naga people wanted ‘Solution but not election.’ The BJP’s slogan, “is now just an inkling of deception and distrust” it asserted while adding that the GoI should seriously look into the matter without further delay and bring about ‘solution before election’ of it is serious and diligent enough to solve the protracted issue.
