
DIMAPUR, SEPt 24 (mexn): Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in reply to the demands of the Dimapur Naga students Union (DNSU) to improve its services, redress grievances of cellular consumers and present a transparent explanation, issued a letter to the organization on the steps it had taken in regard to the demands made.
In a letter to Meijiang Gonmei, General Secretary of DNSU, the Deputy General Manager ( A&P) of BSNL K D Vizo informed that a state of art CDMA technology for wireless telephone service (Mobile) called ‘Tarang’ was being “dedicated for the student community” of Dimapur and Kohima.
The service would provide mobility within the service area of Kohima and Dimapur with the handset “resembling one of those common in the market for cellular mobiles”. According to the letter a copy of which could be obtained by The Morung Express the tariff would be extremely cheap and affordable and the voice quality of the service was excellent.
Responding to the allegations of faulty-billing system of the BSNL, the deputy General Manager also stated that the billing system was being upgraded to make it extremely customer-friendly (for which) some “cozy billing outlets have been opened at Kohima and Dimapur” adding that the accusations of the students against the BSNL for indulging in xenophobic activities was a ‘misnomer’.
It maintained that services in the four Naga-inhabited Hill Districts of Manipur were disturbed on certain occasions by unknown group of activists.
Affirming its commitment to providing quality services to the Cellular consumers, the Deputy General Manager expressed its willingness and eagerness to work with young minds.
It informed that engineering students would be associated with the BSNL’s Broadband DataOne Service during installation at the subscribers’ premises. Further, college students would be ‘associated with the sale of Broadband connections’.
