Imphal, July 24 (MExN): A Myanmar business delegation from the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry (UMFCCI) led by Wang Yu, Managing Director of Shwe Naung Yan Co. Ltd. and UMFCCI member, visited Manipur at the invitation of Indo-Myanmar Association and Manipur Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The visit, from July 17 to 21, was aimed at finding ways and means to enhance bilateral trade including border trade between Myanmar and Manipur. The UMFCCI members met many business organizations, associations, firms, entrepreneurs, including Business Excellence Group (BEG), Manipur, Indo Myanmar Association (IMA), Manipur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI), Proprietor of KB Enterprises and other important persons of IT sectors and had detailed discussions about the potential of enhancing the bilateral trade and also for further smoothening the Border Trade between Manipur and Myanmar, said a press release from Wang Yu. Wang Yu had earlier visited Nagaland and met with entrepreneurs and business leaders in the state. It may be recalled that Neiphiu Rio, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Nagaland had visited Mandalay in June 2017 and had detailed discussion with Mandalay Chief Minister in this regard. Wang Yu informed that Myanmar is hosting a Border Trade Business meet between 4 states of North East India and Myanmar during the 2nd week of September 2017 in Naypyidaw, Myanmar. A strong numbers of delegates from 4 North East States - Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh are expected to take part in the meeting. Wang Yu said that there is a need for Myanmar and NE States to work together to convert the great potential for string bilateral business relations particularly between the North East states and Myanmar and usher in co-prosperity on both sides of the border. In this regard, he acknowledged the former Nagaland Chief Minister & MP Rio for his contribution in building business relations between Myanmar and North-East India Region.
