B.Voc students of Modern College complete internship

Kohima, November 1 (MExN): The 1st Semester (2nd batch) students of B.Voc in Retail Management & IT, Modern College completed one month internship from October 3-31 as part of the academic programme.  

Altogether, 14 students were placed in various prominent stores and showrooms in Kohima Town, namely Gravity and E-Central under Tribal Group, Bambusa, Lozi Hyundai, and Adidas. YouthNet, which is the educational partner, assisted in building linkages with the stores, according to a press release from the college.  

The interns were initially given orientations on various aspects of the retail world, work ethics and discipline by respective HRs. In the course of the internship, the students were exposed to dealing with customers, cash handling, stock counting, and visual merchandising.  

The release mentioned that B.Voc course introduced by UGC is a full-fledged 3 years degree programme for 12th pass students in any stream. The course is practical oriented involving 60% practical and 40% theoretical. All practical components will end with project report.  

Every semester, the pass out students will get a certificate from RASCI (Retailers Association Skill Council of India), Mumbai, which is recognized all over India and abroad, it said. With 6 semesters in total, the students will study a particular job role at all levels during the course, which starts from Sales Associate in 1st Semester and as Store Manager in the 6th Semester.
