BWA pledges support to Naga Reconciliation

Dimapur, August 2 (MExN): Baptist World Alliance today issued a brief note mentioning the ‘Naga reconciliation’ process and the assurance of “cooperation” from the Baptist community towards the endeavor. The note was appended by Dr. Neville Callam, general secretary of Baptist World Alliance. “Baptists commenced work in Nagaland state in India in 1872. Since that time, the Baptist community in Nagaland has grown to 600,000, representing more than 74 percent of the population of Nagaland state in northeastern India, and approximately 90 percent of ethnic Nagas,” the note said. In his address to the Baptist World Congress, Neville Callam praised the Nagas for the progress they are making toward ‘full reconciliation’ under the initiative of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation. He pledged the cooperation of the worldwide Baptist family to the efforts being made to further the ‘expression of Christian love  among  the  Nagas’.
