
Noose on corruption being tightened, claims CMO
Dimapur, July 12 (MExN): The Cabinet today directed the termination of the consultancy service of MKR Pillai “with immediate effect.”
“It also directed that a report be sought from the Income Tax Department with regard to the irregularities reported in the media,” stated a press release issued by Media Cell, Chief Minister’s Office, Nagaland.
Claiming that the steps can be seen as a sincere attempt to clean up the system and tightening the noose on corruption, the release further said that the Cabinet also ordered the PHQ to submit a “report on the presence of a Nagaland Police truck noticed in Kerala as per media reports.”
It further informed that in the issue relating to irregularities in Public Distribution System in Nagaland, the Cabinet was briefed by the department of Food & Civil Supplies and the Director General of Police, Nagaland.
In the fuel adulteration case, two criminal cases were registered, investigation completed, charge-sheet filed and trial was in progress, the release noted.
“In the other case of repacking of food grains, the Cabinet noted that investigation was in progress and directed that the investigation should be completed at the earliest,” it added.
