Peren, October 13 (MExN): A team of six members from District Child Welfare Committee, Peren District, organised a one-day awareness programme on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act: Focusing on Legal and Reporting Mechanisms, Child Rights, and Protection at Sainik School Punglwa on October 13.
The programme aimed to educate cadets about their rights and the necessity and the importance of reporting sexual offenses against any child, stated a press release issued by Sainik School Punglwa.
The event was attended by all the cadets and staff of the school. The resource persons emphasized upon the Child Helpline number 1098, its roles, responsibilities services, consequences of sexual harassment, reporting mechanism along with child rights protection.
The initiative was aimed to empower the cadets with awareness to protect them and others from sexual offenses, it stated.
Vote of thanks was proposed by the school counsellor on behalf of the Principal, staff and cadets of Sainik School Punglwa for such an insightful, educative and informative talk by the team of experts.
