
DIMAPUR, MARCH 22 (MExN): The audit reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) on the government of Nagaland for the year ended 31st March 2011 has been placed in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly on March 22. This was stated in a press brief handed to the local media organization along with the full report of the CAG. Interestingly, the CAG report was tabled on the last day of the Budget Session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, which was adjourned on Thursday, March 22, a day ahead of schedule.
Among others the CAG report contains performance review on implementation of the Jawarharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission Schemes in Nagaland. According to the report the Urban Development Department (UDD), Government of Nagaland implemented five sub-components of JNNURM involving Rs 302.16 crore during 2006-11. The CAG report has found “major deficiencies” in the performance review with regard to the implementation of the scheme. With regard to Audit of financial transactions, several discrepancies has been brought out involving various authorities and departments.
