‘Call to create a better world with no stigma’

Dimapur, October 10 (MExN): World Mental Health Day on the theme, ‘Mental Health in Workplace’ was observed at District Mental Health Programme (DMHP), Dimapur. Around 80 members attended the programme.  

Speaker for the event was Dr. C. Kezo, Nodal Officer, DMHP focused on the essence of working in a peaceful environment. He said it was the 25th year Silver Jubilee of World Mental Health Day. A work place is where you stay happy and have the willingness to work and give your best. He concluded saying, let us create a better world with no stigma and make a productive working environment.  

The journey of experience was shared by Kevitho Kera, a social activist and a member of ACAUT who had been suffering for seven years with his illness. He said that in our Naga society no awareness on mental illness is prevalent and due to stigma we fail to treat ourselves at an earlier phase which deteriorates as year passes by due to negligence.   He encouraged the clients for continuous follow up and treatment for better recovery.  

Sister Mamta, Incharge for Missionaries of Charity shared about the work done by their association. She said that they are a part of small drop in the ocean serving humanity. The programme was chaired by Pupoi, DMHP staff and special song and dance was performed by Missionaries of Charity family. It ended with refreshment for all, followed by OPD.
