Organic farming & vermi compost and poultry rearing project at District Jail Mokokchung
Mokokchung, July 15 (MExN): Under the banner of ‘Call Home,’ organic farming & vermi compost and poultry rearing project were launched at District Jail Mokokchung. It was initiated a month after the Donors’ Consultative meet District Jail Mokokchung where Churches, NGOs well wishers resolved to bring prison reforms into regular existence by equipping the inmates with skill development projects.
‘Call Home’ facilities for inmates in all jails were launched at District Jail Mokokchung by the Director General of Prisons, CD &HG Nagaland Rupin Sharma IPS. This will facilitate the inmates to contact the families and Advocates.
Lieut. Col Joy Choudhary Secretary, Zila Sainik Board & Members and Samir Ranjan Bordoloi, Jorhat along with six intern students of college of Social Science Nagaland Dimapur did the demonstration on raised beds and vermi composting. Sponsored by the District Veterinary Office, Mokokchung in co-ordination with Zila Sainik Welfare Board Mokokchung Local chicks rearing has begun.
The department has approved the formation of Prison Reformation Committee comprising of District Administration, Security, Churches, NGOs and District Jail officials under the chairmanship of M. Bendangnukshi Longkumer. The committee shall initiate all measures in respect of prison reformation.
