With the rest of the country, Kiphire district celebrated the culmination of DISHA programme organised by the District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) Kiphire District. It was held at the DC Conference hall Kiphire under the chairmanship of MP Rajya Sabha, KG Kenye on June 29.
While addressing various departmental heads, tasked with the responsibility of implementing Central Sponsored Schemes, Kenye said that today young Naga generation is desperate to see factual development, disparities removed and inequality bridged. He called for a robust mechanism to bridge development deficit that has plagued the State for more than five decades.
The MP mentioned that though crores of money have been pumped into the development of rural areas, results in the ground is not satisfactory. He acknowledged that India been a vast country monitoring development from Delhi down to the grassroot level is a difficult task, he therefore called upon the development implementing agencies on the ground to sincerely implement whatever development funds.
Kenye also stated that the GoI has a policy where respective States MP is entrusted with the responsibility to supervise and monitor how the 41 flagships program is implemented. In this regard, he informed that Rural Department has been entrusted to analysis, evaluate and put up suggestions to the government to improve the implementation of flagships program.
Kenye remarked that Kiphire is not yet a district in reality in terms of development, infrastructure, social, political and economy. He expressed hope that with Kiphire been identified as one of the Aspirational district by GOI will catch up with the rest of the country in development sector.
The MP also said the real strength of the State economy lies in rural areas and expressed hope that in the shortest possible time whatever social welfare funds coming from Center will percolate down to the rural population without been siphoned off.
Urging for the development of rural economy, the MP commented that the State should start capitalizing on the funds and money given by the center for self sustenance and self reliance economy and stop depending on center for additional funds. He said if economy is developed we will not have to go to center every time with a begging bowl.
Pointing out that time has change Nagas as corruption has become so rampant in Naga society, over the past five decades Nagas good virtues of integrity and honesty has been lost in the race for political aspiration, he urged that it is time Nagas revisit those good virtues of honesty and integrity once again.
Delivering opening remark, the DC Kiphire Mohammed Ali Shihab, IAS stated that under DISHA there are 41 flagships programs sponsored by the GOI. He said DISHA is a robust mechanism body in the district which supervise and monitor the implementation of the flagships program.
DISHA meetings held in Dimapur, Phek
Dimapur: The Dimapur District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting was held at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall on June 29.
DC Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel IAS chaired the meeting. While welcoming the members DC said that presentation of different flagship programme and reviewing its progress report during the meeting is not just to highlight the programmes but to help implement better in future.
Flagship programme such as MGNREGS, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PMAY-G, implementation of Food Security Act, PMGSY, National Social Assistance Programme, NHM, Mid-Day Meal, ICDS, PMJDY, PMSBY were presented by different departments during the meeting.
Phek: District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) Meeting was convened at D.C Conference Hall, Phek on June 29 under the chairperson, Orenthung Lotha, DC Phek.
Welcome address was delivered by PD, DRDA, Phek, Azeno while presentation of departmental activities (Physical & financial for the year 2017 – 18 & 2018-19) were given by Departments of Agriculture, Land Resource , Irrigation & Flood Control , Education, Health & Family welfare , PWD( Work & Housing) , PHED, Food & Civil Supplies And Rural Development. Vote of thanks was given by Avelu Ruho, ADC, Phek.
In his Chairman Remarks, the Deputy Commissioner, Phek Orenthung Lotha called upon the different departments to cooperate for upliftment of the people and the same time for the District.
