
Dimapur, March 7 (MExN): Department of Political Science, Livingstone Foundation International College (LFIC) celebrated International Women’s Day on March 7 under the theme ‘DigitALL: Technology and Innovation for Gender Equality’ with L Achilo Kikon Panmei, IQAC Coordinator and Assistant Professor Department of Political Science as speaker.
A press release from the college stated that Panmei spoke on various rights that are entitled to women which can be revelled in India. ‘This day is a global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity,’ Panmei stated.
It mentioned that innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. A gender-responsive approach to innovation, technology and digital education can increase the awareness of women and girls regarding their rights and civic engagement. Advancements in digital technology offer immense opportunities to address development and humanitarian challenges. The programme was chaired by Anguvito BA 2nd Semester, invocation by Hivika Yepthomi BA 2nd Semester, spoken word by Kevin BA 2nd Semester and special number by Lipokrenba and friends of 2nd Semester. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Avikali K Chishi, HoD, Political Science.
