Call for wider participation of intellectuals in politics

Dimapur, March 22 (MExN): NPCC President, K. Therie addressing the students of Tetso College, Dimapur, made a call for wider participation of intellectuals in politics so that society would benefit from their wisdom.

Therie said that corruption having been systemized at every level and the youth have a major role in initiating and bringing about change for the better. He said that there are a multitude of CSSs given by the Government of India which do not reach the intended beneficiaries and that the state's economy is also in a mess. Citing examples of proxy voting by young individuals during elections, he called upon the youth to be firm in their moral ethics and to participate in a positive way as the future belongs to them and their decision and actions in a few months' time would determine it.

In a well attended programme, Therie emphasised the need for students to develop skills towards careers they choose. He urged the students to develop the culture of hard work and said that on the other hand, expecting to be paid without doing any work is a crime against society.

Highlighting 'health insurance', 'one classroom', the Naga political problem and economic development amongst others from the NPCC Roadmap, Therie said that the way forward to achieving clean governance through a clean government is for the people to elect God-fearing leaders who will provide a God-fearing Government.

A press release from the Press Secretary of Therie stated that the programme was chaired by Hewasa Lorin, Vice Principal, Testo College, while Dr. P.S. Lorin, Principal, Tetso College, welcomed the NPCC President and his team and invoked God's blessings.
