Longleng, January 14 (MExN): ‘Samajik Adhikari Shivir’ a camp for distribution of aids and assistive devices to ‘Divyangjan’ under the ADIP Scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India was organised by Department of Social Welfare, Longleng in association with ALIMCO and District Administration Longleng at DC's Conference Hall, Longleng on January 14.

A DIPR report stated that in his welcome address SDO (C) Longleng, Trongdiba Tongpi Sangtam, NCS spoke on the occasion and interacted with the beneficiaries. He lauded the efforts of the Social Welfare Department and ALIMCO for organizing the assessment and distribution camp towards the unfortunate people of the district.

Trongdiba requested beneficiaries to use all the appliances in a sensible and recommended manner as huge public money was involved in the procurement of these aids and appliances.

DWO incharge Longleng, Longlang Phom, CDPO, Longleng in his short speech appealed to ALIMCO to hold more such assessment camps in different parts of the district in the future to ensure coverage of more beneficiaries. 

ALIMCO Officer P&O, Supongwati Jamir speaking on the occasion expressed his appreciation to District Administration Longleng and Social Welfare Department Longleng for tremendous support and enthusiasm shown during the assessment camps held in September last year. He mentioned that such an immense positive response and feedback was well received by the Ministry and thereby Longleng District was chosen as one of the 67 locations in the country to conduct 'Samajik Adhikari Shivir' distribution programme.

Demonstration on the use of devices were performed by Suman Kumar- Prosthetist and orthotist , ALIMCO and Jagganath Sahoo- Audiologist, ALIMCO.

Different type of aids and assistive devices distributed among identified Divyangjan registered included Wheelchairs, Crutches, Walking Sticks, Rollators, Smart Cane, MSIED Kit, Hearing Aids, etc.

Concluding the programme, vote of thanks was proposed by EAC Longleng, Dr Samuel Akho Konyak.
