• He can because he has the chance not to commit the same mistakes like his father Rajiv Gandhi and his grandmother Indira Gandhi. He must however keep away from those advisors who brought down his family members. Rahul has a good opportunity, but we will have to see whether he will walk the walk.

• Rahul, as the Congress heavyweights have pointed out, maybe the future, but today, the blind saga over the Gandhi family line is fading, as such in a big country like India a young politician like Rahul may make a slight difference, but as a whole, without prejudice, it will make less or no difference. The Congress and Gandhi’s stronghold has been declining since the later part of Indira Gandhi’s political career, even Rajiv at his peak could not do much.
• In the changed political scenario where coalition has come to function as the new rule a party can no longer bank on the personality cult to revive its lost glory....it is the parties’ agenda and policy pertaining to domestic and international that determine its prospect of standing tall in the vast political sea.
