Dimapur, September 8 (MExN): Project Development 4 Adolescent under Can Youth organized a webinar session for adolescents on the topic ‘puberty - mental, physical, emotional and social changes’ on August 4. The session was attended by various adolescent clubs members and adolescents from project intervening areas.
A press release from the Can Youth stated that the session was moderated by Sentiwati, Project Coordinator of Development 4 Adolescent with two panelists Akangkokla Namo, Programme Officer of Family planning association of India, Nagaland Branch and Sebastian, Branch Executive Committee (BEC) member of Family Planning Association of India, Nagaland Branch based in Kohima.
Akangkokla spoke on the changes that occur in girls during puberty such as change in their body size and shape, hair and skin issues. She talked on the changes and development process in the female reproductive system and problems faced by the adolescent during the menstruation period. She mentioned how one should take care of this transactional change in the body that begins to develop as one move from kid to adult.
Sebastian spoke on the changes that occur in male adolescents and why it is important to be known as an adolescent. He also spoke on the changes that happen in adolescent mentality and social level, where he mentioned that they can be easily influenced by peer groups in both negative and positive aspects which change one’s mindset during this developmental stage. He mentioned the importance of education where he stated education helps to mould our life and creation of a better society, aware of one’s own responsibilities and becoming a responsible adult.
