Kohima, August 28 (MExN): Canara Bank’s Kohima New Capital Complex Area (NCCA) Branch has extended financial assistance to meritorious and underprivileged girl students of Government High School, Diki, Dihoma, Kohima, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The assistance was provided under the Canara Vidya Jyothi Scholarship Scheme, also known as the Canara Bank Dr Ambedkar Vidya Jyothi Scholarship, which supports meritorious and underprivileged SC/ST girl students studying in Classes 5 to 10.
The scheme aims to prevent school dropouts, promote academic excellence and advance gender equality.
As part of the initiative, the bank, in collaboration with Government High School, Diki, Dihoma, organised a felicitation programme on August 27 for girl toppers from Classes 5 to 10.
The scholarship awardees were felicitated by Canara Bank Kohima NCCA Branch Manager Shuli Lokho and Assistant Branch Manager Machuk Wurmi Luikham.
Speaking at the programme, Lokho highlighted the importance of educating the girl child and encouraged the students to strive for academic excellence and actively pursue opportunities in life.
He said success came to those who remained dedicated, sincere, hardworking and consistent in their chosen fields.
