Cancel illegal appointment orders under SSA: ZSUN

Dimapur, August 1 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has refuted the press statement made by the Zeliang People’s Organisation (ZPO) and Zeliang Students’ Union in regard to the illegal appointment of 55 primary teachers under SSA in Peren district.  The Union in a press note issued by its President Penam stated that it is “perplexed” by the statement of ZPO and Zeliang Students’ Union as to whom are they referring to, when they stated that the “State Government should not bow to the pressure of  “these vested interest”.

“If they are not vested interest group themselves why are they supporting the corrupt system? Where is their proof that the appointments of 55 primary teachers were ‘justified’ appointments? The statement of the two organisations clearly exhibits their immaturity and exposed their selfish motive and show that they are also part of the corrupt system,” alleged the Union in the note. Therefore, it has appealed to the State Government and the Department not to be perturbed by such irresponsible press statement but to go ahead with the cancellation of all illegal appointment orders under SSA in the district without further delay.

Also to conduct interviews so as to accord justice to genuine qualified candidates of the district and ensure quality education in the district. In relation to this, the Union has cautioned that in the event of any untoward incident arising out of this issue in the district, the two organisations – Zeliang Students’ Union and Zeliang People’s Organisation will be solely held responsible for their “belligerence statement”. It also mentioned that the Zeliangrong people have been patiently tolerating the “myopic parochial and divisive stands” of the people’s Organisation and Zeliang Students’ Union, who in reality have “no public support” and have come to conclusion that the two organisations have “no broad guided agenda and policy” to benefit the people of Peren district as a whole, “but have been wriggling in cocoon of parochialism and have always been adopting confrontationist stand”.

Meanwhile, it has stated that it supports the cabinet decision of the DAN Government for creation of minimum five teachers’ posts to all single teacher schools in the State and also creation of 209 primary teachers’ posts under SSA for single teacher schools in Peren district. However, it regrets that in spite of the guidelines laid down by the government for appointment of primary school teachers under SSA in the State, some vested interest officials have “gone out of the way to appoint the teachers at their own whims and fancy”.

The note further added that in the past, the appointments of primary teachers were made randomly akin to the recently illegal appointment made under SSA. Such practices created rooms for numerous single teacher schools in the district as most of the teachers were transferred with post after receiving appointment order thereby the quality of education in the district degraded drastically.
