Candidate to drag NPSC to court

Dimapur, Feb 21 (MExN): Following slipshod irregularities committed by the Nagaland Public Services Commission (NPSC) in the last NCS, NPS & Allied Services examination, 2005, that saw the appointment of a successful candidate to the post of EAC and subsequently, cancellation of the same “due to some misunderstanding”, the said candidate, Velule Tureng, has decided to resort to legal action against the commission. Velule Tureng is presently in consultations with her lawyers.

“I will take the NPSC to court but for now I am talking to my lawyers on the matter” she said adding that the whole experience was one of humiliation. “It was unfair and an insult. They are playing with our careers” Tureng said rendering her account on what transpired preceding the decision to drag the state’s premier government service recruiting agency to court. She said that the NPSC did not even notify her or correspond on the cancellation of the appointment and was informed of it through third sources.

It was only when she personally approached the NPSC that she was informed of the proceedings canceling her selection. The NPSC had mistakenly forwarded her marks overriding two other candidates’ whose marks were higher. The commission detected the error only after declaration of the results. Moreover, the cancellation order is found to be issued on January 26, 2006, Republic Day when all government establishments’ remains closed.

Velule, while expressing confidence from support rendered to her by her family and relatives, said that she was taking up the matter because the NPSC has been committing such irregularities and affecting various discrepancies over the years. “If we keep quiet, the same irregularities will continue so I have decided to fight back” Tureng said.
