CANSSEA to hold state wide sit-in Dharna on Sept 23

Dimapur, September 19 (MExN): The Confederation of All Nagaland State Service Employees’ Association (CANSSEA) has announced that it will observe a statewide sit-in dharna on September 23, 2025, in line with the directive of the All India State Government Employees Federation (AISGEF).

According to a release issued by CANSSEA, the central programme will be held at the CANSSEA office complex in Kohima, while district units will observe the dharna at their respective district headquarters. The sit-in is being held in support of the 11-point charter of demands put forward by AISGEF to the Union Government.

The demands include the repeal of all four labour codes and the repeal of the PFRDA Act, scrapping of NPS/UPS, and directing fund managers to return the amounts deposited to state governments while bringing all subscribers under EPS 95 to the Defined Benefit Pension System.

CANSSEA has also called for the regularisation of all contractual employees, stopping contractual, outsourced, and daily wage employment, and filling up all vacancies in state government departments and PSUs on a regular basis. It further demanded an end to the privatisation or corporatisation of PSUs and the downsizing of government departments.

The charter also seeks the constitution of the Eighth Central Pay Commission with a provision for periodical pay revision every five years, release of pending DA installments and confiscated arrears, and implementation of a comprehensive government-supported health insurance scheme ensuring cashless treatment in all hospitals for pensioners, employees, and contractual workers.

Other demands include abandoning the National Education Policy, repealing Articles 310 and 311 (2) a, b & c of the Constitution, upholding the secularism enshrined in the Constitution and fighting against all types of communalism, as well as redefining Centre–State financial relations to safeguard cooperative federalism.
