Mokokchung, September 18 (MExN): The Mokokchung Forest Division hosted a hands-on training session focused on "Capacity Building for Livelihood Activities" as part of the Forest and Biodiversity Management in the Himalaya, Nagaland (FBMP) project. This initiative, co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW (German Development Bank), targets sustainable forest and biodiversity management, improved connectivity, and enhanced livelihood opportunities in Batch-1 villages, including Alongkima, Khar, Mongchen, Dibuia, and Waromung.

Held at the Student Library Hall in Khar Village, the event was chaired by Lipokinla Pongen, FcOM, and commenced with an invocation by Smt. Pangerchila, Associate Youth Pastor of Khar. Moamongba, Assistant Conservator of Forest in Tuli, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the training's role in empowering participants with essential livelihood skills and urging all stakeholders to work towards better conservation and management in their communities.
Tongpangtemsu, Village Council Khar, also welcomed the participants and encouraged active engagement in livelihood activities alongside community conservation efforts.
The technical sessions covered various agricultural and livestock topics. Dr. Martha Chakruno, ACTO (Plant Protection) from KVK Mokokchung, led discussions on mushroom farming, pest management, and distribution of kharif seeds and feed supplements. Nokzenkerba, Extension Officer for Sericulture, and Alem, Sericulture Field Assistant, provided insights into successful eri silkworm rearing. Dr. Ketinaro from the Veterinary Department addressed swine production and management, including breed selection, disease prevention, and animal care.
Additionally, vaccinations for dogs and cats were provided as part of the healthcare services. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Tali, Ao Convergence Expert, DMU, and interviews with participants sharing their experiences. The day ended with a communal lunch, fostering further community engagement and collaboration.
