A two day long Capacity Building for master trainers of Nagaland state under ULLAS 2024 commenced today at SCERT Conference Hall, Kohima.
The programme, to continue till August 22, is organised by Cell for National Centre for Literacy (CNCL), National Council of Educational Research & Training (NCERT) New Delhi in collaboration with State Literacy Mission Authority (SLMA), Nagaland.
The ULLAS (Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society) scheme is a five-year program by the Government of India that aims to educate adults who have not had the opportunity to go to school.
The primary objective of the scheme is to empower all adults aged 15 years and above, who have not had the opportunity to educate themselves, and to enable them to contribute to the growth of the country.
Source informed that there are over 2.74 lakh non literate persons in Nagaland.
Addressing the inaugural function, Wonthungo Tsopoe, Director, Directorate of School Education, Nagaland stressed on the need to propagate ULLAS activities well to make illiterate persons literate. He asked the master trainers to go to grassroot level and train the volunteer teachers for successful implementation of ULLAS mission in Nagaland.
Earlier, Rokozeho Sothu, Assistant Director & Nodal Officer ULLAS Nagaland chaired the inaugural function. Kevirale-ü Kerhuo, Director SCERT Nagaland and other dignitaries also present at the inaugural programme.
During the programme, resource persons from NCERT New Delhi will train the master trainers on ULLAS: New India Literacy programme, Foundational Literacy and Numeracy under ULLAS, understand reading and reading process, understand writing and writing process, learning outcomes and pedagogical processes, etc.
