Capt Kenguruse Memorial Football Tourney 2019: Head Hunters, Upper Khomi, Tehok & Naga FC enter semis

A quarterfinal match in progress in the ongoing Capt Kenguruse Memorial Football Tourney 2019 at IG stadium Kohima on November 2.
Kohima, November 2 (MExN): Head Hunters 164 TA (NAGA), Naga FC and Kohima, Tehok FC, Mon won their respective quarterfinal matches today to enter the semifinals of the ongoing Capt N Kenguruse Memorial Football Tournament.
With a walkover, Upper Khomi FC, Phek also entered the semifinal on Saturday.
In the first quarter-final of the 5th edition of tourney, Head Hunters ‘ Haotingmang Thomsong produced a scintillating performance for his team by scoring four successive goals virtually preventing any chances for comeback for their opponent, Ten FC, Dimapur.
For Head Hunters, the win was an “icing on the cake” with the Battalion celebrating the 15th Raising Day on Saturday.
A late consolation from Ten FC came from the boots of Vifaka Achumi but by then the fate of the match was already decided.
Eventually, the match ended 6-1 in favour of Head Hunters, and setting up a semifinal showdown with Naga FC, Kohima.
In the second quarterfinal, Naga FC, Kohima continued with their dominant performance in the tournament with 5-1 win over Pisgah United FC, Tuensang.
Naga FC attacking game right from the start, were able exploit the weak defense their opponent with two consecutive goals in the 12th and 14th minute by Henglen Chang and Dipusa respectively.
Avilhou Yhome further added on the lead by scoring two more goals for Naga FC in the 41st and 48th minute.
Lokhomong scored the lone goal for Pisgah in the 55th minute, but it was too late to salvage the game and another goal from Naga FC’s Menuosieto, sealed a perfect victory for them.
In the last quarterfinal match, Tehok FC, Mon had to rough out a resilient IGAR (N) team, who gave it their all till the final whistle.
Both teams has equal opportunities but failed to convert a goal with the first half ending goalless.
The match was equally poised in the second half too until a brilliant goal from Awangbo in the 54th minute gave Tehok one goal lead. With time ticking to a close, IGAR(N) changed its formation thinning the defense which was taken advantage of by Tehok with Zumzum scoring another goal in the 80th minute sealing a 2-0 victory.
Upper Khomi FC, Phek, will take on a strong Tehok FC, Mon in the second semifinal on Monday.
