DIMAPUR: In an effort to bolster the fight against HIV/AIDS, the foundation for a centre for AIDS patients at the Military farm, Signal Bosti, Dimapur was laid today. The proposed hospital has a total area of 5.7 acres and has been dedicated to the Army personnel.
The foundation stone was unveiled by the Chief Guest, Mohini Daljeet Singh, President of Army Women Welfare Association and lady wife of Daljeet Singh, Lt. General, 3 Corps, Rangaphahar. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest remarked that if all the concerned citizens work and go hand in hand through helping each other then it would create an interesting world. The concerned hospital has been laid with a view to create more awareness among the citizens and it is considered as the biggest armour to prevent AIDS, she added.
Mohini further urged both the State government and the citizens to support such humanitarian causes and told the gathering that more of such care centres should be set up in other parts of the State. The project has been initiated under the GOC Sanction of the Sab Bhavna Project.
The function was chaired by V. Hekali Zhimomi, DC Dimapur while the invocatory was offered by the Principal of Living Bible College, Rev. Shiwoto. Major General Ashok Samantaray, VSM, articulated the introductory words. Saplings were planted by the dignitaries present at the function inside the compound of the upcoming hospital.
Besides, all the high ranking officers of the Armed Forces, SP Dimapur and 10 NGOs networking in Dimapur against the HIV/AIDS also attended the ceremony.
